“The Future of FM Technology, From the U.S. to Europe”
Date: April 16th, 2015
Time: 1:00 – 2:00 PM Eastern Time Zone (USA)

Overview:
The successful deployment of FM technology (primarily IWMS, CMMS, CAFM) is still a major topic in many international online forums and social media. Typical topics under discussion are: Which system/modules should I choose, and what should I start with? What is the typical price range for a 100-user installation, and what will be the ongoing maintenance/operations costs? What resources do I need for a successful implementation? How can I securely migrate to a more advanced system when I have an older client/server-based solution installed? What are the major obstacles to overcome in the implementation phase? Which kind of interfaces do I really need (ERP, CAD, BA)? What about data security/integrity when I go for a SaaS solution? Does the system allow BIM integration? What about multi-language support and UNICODE? Are there proven standards/formats for data exchange and KPI comparisons? What IT trends will have an impact on FM technology? To answer these questions and get an indication of widely used best practices, IFMA’s IT Council and GEFMA’s CAFM SIG ran two independent but similar online surveys in 2014 and 2013. With more than 500 participants, the results represent the most comprehensive and representative data in the FM IT industry. Both users and vendors can benefit from it. This session describes the methodology used for the surveys and explains FM IT buzzwords. Review the major results/findings and compare American and European data. Some turn out to be very similar; but some are surprisingly different.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the documented trends in FM technology.
2. Discuss how an international outlook benefits your organization.
3. Gain five tips for successful FM technology deployment.
4. Review the typical pitfalls of FM technology deployment.
