Overview:

FM as the foremost contributor to managing a more productive, sustainable and liveable Built Environment is going to have an increasingly important leadership role in our challenging world. VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) describes our turbulent world and defines our challenge for the future. FM will to have an increasingly important leadership by balancing the strategic planning with tactical implementation to achieve the demand organization’s purpose. This is a must, while simultaneously managing the recruitment and retention of critical resources, forging alliances, and maintaining a succession plan and averting crisis in whatever form it takes.

By demonstrating full commitment and leading organizational effectiveness, a number of features have emerged that have a bearing on the successful implementation of initiatives.

Biography

Stephen Ballesty is Rider Levett Bucknall’s Sydney based Director & Head of Advisory with over 30 years of public and private sector consulting and over 20 years of not-for-profit leadership experiences. He is currently a member of the IFMA Board of Directors and is the Australian Head of the Delegation for the ISO international facilities management initiative.

Stephen is a Past Chairman of the IFMA Foundation; Past Chairman of FMA Australia; and between 2004-08 he was the Deputy Chairman of Australian Government’s FM Action Agenda and FM Exemplar Project: Sydney Opera House. Stephen has an MBA in technology management, and degrees in construction science and project management, is a Fellow of the AIQS and RICS and is an FMA Australia Life Member (2011). As a Certified Facility Manager and IFMA’s 2014 International Distinguished Member of the Year, Stephen shares his knowledge at industry events around the globe.
